Wisdom: Chapter (1) The Quiet Wisdom

1. Do not assume you know until you have done deep learning and verified.

2. A wise man knows when to be silent and, just as necessary when to take action.

3. Be wise quietly. The smarter you get, the less you speak.

4. Even fools seem bright when they are quiet.

5. Wise men speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because they have to say something.

6. A fool is known by his speech; and a wise man by silence.

7. Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heeded rather than the shout of a ruler of fools.

8. Listen to good advice if you want to live well.

9. Knowledge speaks but wisdom listens.

10. The ability to observe without evaluation is the highest form of intelligence.

11. Seek guidance not only from the living but also from the wisdom of the past.

12. From the errors of others, a wise man corrects his own.

13. The art of being wise is knowing what to overlook.

14. A wise man accepts and endures his pain but does not add to it.

15. It is the nature of the wise to resist pleasures but of the foolish to be slaves to them.

16. The truly good and wise man will bear with dignity whatever fortune sends and always make the best of his circumstances.
